Introduction of New Swanson Dock Sidings and Swanson Dock Lead

Commencing Wednesday 16 August 2023, the following naming convention changes will occur within the Swanson Dock Sidings:

- West Swanson Dock Lead will be referred to as the Swanson Dock Lead;

- West Swanson Dock siding will be renamed as Footscray Rd sidings;

- Two new Dead End sidings will be located in the Patrick Terminal and will be referred to as the East Swanson Dock Sidings, and

- DP World sidings will be referred to as the West Swanson Dock Sidings.

The overall precinct name for the three sidings will be referred to as the Swanson Dock Sidings.

Prior to 1700hrs on Wednesday 16 August 2023, the Port of Melbourne Track Representative will issue an Infrastructure Booking Advice to the ARTC Network Controller and the Swanson Dock Signaller booking in the following new rail infrastructure at the Port of Melbourne Sidings:

- SWANSON DOCK LINK LINE connecting the Appleton Dock Sidings with the Swanson Dock Sidings;

- POINTS 5D, located at the Appleton Dock end of the Swanson Dock Link Line on No. 4 track toe to toe with Points 3D. Points will be equipped with a dual control point machine only available for hand operation.

- POINTS 5BU and 5BD, Gauge transfer located on the Swanson Dock Link. Points will be equipped with a dual control point machine only available for hand operation.

- POINTS 5U, located at the Swanson Dock end of the Swanson Dock Link line on the Swanson Dock Lead. Points will be equipped with a dual control point machine only available for hand operation.

- POINTS 53, located on the Swanson Dock Lead providing access to the East Swanson Dock Sidings. Points will be equipped with a dual control point machine only available for hand operation.

- POINTS 55, located within the East Swanson Dock Sidings providing access to East Swanson Dock No. 1 and No. 2 tracks. Points will be equipped with a dual control point machine only available for hand operation.

- POINTS 59, located at the Footscray Rd Sidings providing access to Footscray Rd Siding No. 1 and No. 2 tracks. Points will be equipped with a dual control point machine only available for hand operation.

Upon the track infrastructure being booked in, all rail movements within the Swanson Dock sidings, and the Swanson Dock Link Line, will be managed by the Swanson Dock Signaller who will operate the dual control point machines in the hand operating position as detailed in Port of Melbourne Operating Protocols detailed in a separate train notice.
